Gore suggested that this reversal of stance, which seemingly downplayed the urgency of global warming, might be motivated by fear of being bullied by a specific political figure, noting that the only positive reaction came from that figure. He explicitly stated that the idea of a binary choice between health and climate is “quite silly,” as leading scientists and health organizations view climate change as the number one health threat.

Historically, Gates and Gore were viewed as philanthropic allies working on global challenges, including climate change. However, Gore argued that minimizing the climate threat undermines effective healthcare solutions, suggesting that accelerating climate action is actually one of the most effective ways to improve global health.
