Yair Lapid on West Bank Settlements

Yair Lapid's position on West Bank Settlements has been marked by direct opposition to the financial mechanisms that support them, particularly during his tenure as Finance Minister. In early 2015, he took the step of halting the transfer of government funds earmarked for the settlements and initiated an investigation into the matter, alleging that the money was being funneled to a pro-settler political group for political purposes. He characterized this attempt to push the funds through after his dismissal as corruption, refusing to comply with what he perceived as a political exchange to keep the coalition government intact.

During his time in the government that succeeded the Netanyahu administration, Lapid maintained a stance supportive of a two-state solution, which inherently constrains the expansion of settlements beyond agreed blocs.
